Pastured Poultry

All of our poultry is certified organic by Baystate Organic Certifiers. They are pastured for as much of their lives as we can, and they eat a certified organic ration. We generally get them as day-old chicks, and keep them indoors in a "brooder" until they have enough feathers and are old enough to withstand the temperatures and weather of the outdoors. Then they spend the rest of their lives getting rotated to fresh pasture, where they dine on bugs, grass, and clover.

Turkey

CERTIFIED ORGANIC!

Get your Thanksgiving turkey from us! Pre-order your turkey well in advance, as we sell out every year. Pre Orders usually begin in March for November pick up.

We raise broad-breasted white and bronze turkeys on pasture, where they are able to roam in the sun (and rain - they don't seem to mind), eating clover, grass, bugs, and certified organic grain.

We process the turkeys here on the farm on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, and then our customers come to pick them up on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. This way, you get a visit to a beautiful farm, as well as securing the most delicious, freshest turkey you could get. Buying your turkey fresh, not frozen, will also speed the cooking on the big day.

Fresh eggs from our happy, healthy hens are available year-round (hens permitting) at the farm in our self-serve store or at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market. $7/dozen.

During the growing season, our hens live in a mobile henhouse (the "Eggmobile"), which we move to fresh pasture twice a week. It's mutually beneficial for the hens and the soil - they fertilize the soil, eat weed seeds, and get access to fresh pasture for the tastiest morsels. They dine on our certified organic grain ration, supplemented with grass, clover, the aforementioned seeds, and whatever bugs they can catch. In the winter, they live in our “winter barn” on the hill just above the farm store. This structure, designed by Zack, has a clear plastic roof on the south side, which makes it bright and warm in there on the sunny days, and as bright as it can be on the cloudy ones. The hens continue to have outdoor access (whether or not they choose to take advantage), and are given ample certified organic hay cut here on our farm, which serves as bedding, toy, and supplemental feed.

For meat, we raise Cornish Cross chickens on pasture, where they are moved to fresh grass every day as well as dining on a certified organic ration. We process the chickens on-farm every two weeks from June through October. This means we have fresh chicken available for pick-up on the farm the day after each one of these processing days.

Visit our Calendar page to see the fresh chicken schedule.

We have frozen chicken available year-round at the farm or at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market.  We also have chicken parts available, including house-made chicken sausages!!, chicken breast, drumsticks, thighs, wings, liver, soup stock, and soup carcasses. Our self-serve store is open 7 days a week, 8 am-7pm.
